One person was hospitalized with minor injuries after a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) train struck a tractor-trailer on Wednesday, officials said.

Canton Police and Fire responded to the collision at the railroad crossing on Pine Street in Canton at around 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday. Photos shared by the police show the jackknifed truck wedged against the front of the train.

The fire department said one person on board the train was transported to a hospital with minor injuries. The driver jumped out of the truck before the collision, and was uninjured.

Witness Adam McCulloch, who recorded video of the collision, told WCVB the driver appeared to be following the rules of the road before the truck got caught between the gates at the crossing. The truck passed the first gate while it was up, then was blocked by the second gate coming down.

“All of a sudden the truck was going across the tracks and ‘ding, ding, ding!’ the posts came down, he was literally stuck. There was nothing he could do. He had seconds to react, I imagine,” McCulloch told the outlet.

Pine Street was closed for several hours, but even after it reopened Wednesday evening, police said MBTA and utility crews would be on the scene continuing work overnight. MBTA warned of delays and cancellations on the Stoughton Commuter Rail Line.
